Emergency Support
Therapy can provide an important space for reflection and support, but there may be times when you need urgent or immediate help. The information below outlines who to contact if you or someone else is at risk.
If you are in immediate danger
If you feel that you are at risk of harming yourself, or someone else, please seek immediate help:
-
Call 999
-
Go to your nearest A&E department
These services are available 24 hours a day and are there to keep you safe.
NHS 111 – Urgent mental health support
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or need urgent advice but it is not an immediate emergency, you can contact:
-
NHS 111 (call 111 or visit the NHS 111 website)
When you call 111, you can ask for the mental health option. You will be put in touch with trained mental health professionals who can:
-
Assess how urgently you need help
-
Direct you to your local NHS urgent mental health service
-
Advise on the most appropriate next steps
This service is available 24/7 and is free to use.
Samaritans
If you are feeling overwhelmed, distressed, or struggling to cope, you can contact Samaritans for confidential emotional support:
-
Call free on 116 123 (UK & ROI)
-
Available 24 hours a day
You do not need to be in immediate danger to contact Samaritans — they are there to listen.

A note about therapy
If you are already attending therapy with me and feel at risk between sessions, please use the services above rather than waiting for your next appointment. Therapy is not an emergency service, and your safety is always the priority.
