Initial contact and initial consultation

If you are considering therapy, you are welcome to get in touch to arrange a free 15 minute conversation.

If we decide to proceed, the initial consultation provides space to explore your current concerns, relevant background, and what you hope to gain from therapy. We will also discuss practical arrangements and whether short-term or longer-term work feels most appropriate.

Session length and frequency

  • Sessions last 50 minutes. The sessions are held at the same time and day each week.

  • Initial consultations last 60 minutes
  • Most clients attend once weekly

  • Therapy can be short-term or open-ended

Sessions take place either in person in Hendon, North London, or online via Teams.

Cancellations and missed sessions

The time of the session is set aside for you, and therefore all missed sessions will need to be paid for, except for holidays, which you had booked prior to starting therapy. Other than announced holiday breaks, if, for any reason, I must cancel a session, I will endeavour to offer you an alternative time. If this is not possible, you will not be charged. I will aim to give you as much notice as possible of any forthcoming breaks.

Confidentiality

Your privacy is taken very seriously. All sessions are confidential and conducted in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.

There are rare circumstances where confidentiality may need to be broken (for example, where there is serious risk of harm to yourself or others). This will always be discussed with you wherever possible.

Further details about confidentiality and data protection can be provided on request.

Online therapy

Online sessions are offered via Teams and follow the same structure and confidentiality standards as in-person therapy. Online therapy can be a flexible and effective option if you are unable to attend sessions in Hendon or prefer to work remotely.

You will need a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with video and audio capability.

Ending therapy

You may stop at any time but as an important part of the process it is useful to work towards an ending.  Therefore, I recommend this is discussed in advance and then work towards an agreed ending date.

Taking the next step

Starting therapy can feel like a significant step, and it is important that you feel comfortable with your choice. If you would like to ask any questions or arrange an initial conversation, you are welcome to get in touch.
